Rancier Farms is a fourth generation farming operation established in 1905 with the fifth generation becoming more involved every day.  The farm consists of a black based cow herd consisting of black and red purebred and percentage Simmental cows, and a grain operation. 

We are proud to be a part of the Maxwell/Rancier Bull Sale held early every spring in Camrose and we also market some elite females at select sales each fall.   Bulls, females, semen and embryos are also always available privately on the farm. 

We have been raising purebred Simmental Cattle since 2001 and in this time our focus hasn’t changed.  We believe that it is our responsibility to produce fresh genetics that will have a positive impact on the economic traits that are so important to the profitability of our customers in the future.  Not only are we focused on the economic traits like calving ease, early growth, efficiency and fertility, but our bulls will also leave a beautiful set of heifers that turn into productive cows.  Bulls from our program are backed by a maternally focused cow herd filled with the moderate framed, deep, broody, beautiful uddered females that the industry craves.  Our bullpen is comprised of sire groups and flush mates out of our top producing donor cows which creates more consistency as you will find groups of full, 3/4 and 1/2 brothers. 

Through an extensive embryo transplant program our numbers have been steadily increasing and that has also enabled us to build a herd of closely related females that produce progeny that are widely accepted in both the purebred and commercial sectors of the industry.  Cow families are extremely important to us, and we are highly selective emphasizing structurally sound, easy fleshing females with lots of volume and longevity.  

Rancier Farms uses the show ring as a marketing tool; an opportunity to stay in contact with many commercial and purebred breeders , and to exhibit a small sample of what we have to offer at the farm.  We have enjoyed exhibiting cattle at many of the major fall shows and while our main goal is to breed functional breeding cattle that will excel in a commercial operation, we have had success in the show ring as well.  In the past 13 years we have exhibited or bred 24 Grand or Reserve Grand Champions in the Simmental show at the two major fall shows at Farmfair International and Canadian Western Agribition; as well as many Champions at other shows, including numerous National Champions.  A highlight for our operation was winning both Supreme Champion Bull and Female over all breeds at Farmfair in 2008, and returning in 2010 and 2014 to repeat as Supreme Champion female, earning us 4 Dodge trucks.  Another highlight was breeding and exhibiting the first Simmental female to ever win Supreme Champion Female in the RBC Beef Supreme at Canadian Western Agribition.
